Solenoid Valve Thread Standards
Because the diameter of solenoid valve is generally small, the most common connection type of solenoid valves is internal thread connection, so it is necessary to know the specific thread connection form. The internal threads of solenoid valves are mainly NPT, PT, RC and G threads.
NPT is the abbreviation of National (American) Pipe Thread. It belongs to American standard 60 degree tapered pipe thread and is used in North America.
PT is the abbreviation of Pipe Thread. It is a 55 degree sealed tapered pipe thread. It belongs to Wyeth thread family. It is mostly used in Europe and Commonwealth countries. It is often used in water and gas pipe industry with taper of 1:16.
G means a 55 degree non-threaded sealing pipe thread, belonging to Wyeth thread family. Marked G stands for cylindrical thread. ATO solenoid valves mainly adopt G thread connection form.
Rc means conical inner tube thread, the thread-sealed tube thread, and the tooth angle is 55 degrees. It is also commonly known as ZG tapered pipe threads. Metric thread has tooth angle 60 degrees.
The unsealed pipe threads without taper are also cylindrical pipe threads. The threads can not be sealed well by themselves. Only by adding sealing materials (such as water tape, raw material belt, hemp rope, etc.) in the threads can make the sealing effective.
The sealed pipe threads (also known as self-sealing pipe threads) are squeezed by the threaded teeth on the taper of 1:16 to achieve self-sealing without encrypting sealing materials (but for some tapered pipe threads, due to processing problems, in practice, some sealing materials are wrapped around on the tapered screw to ensure safety).
